Fatty Liver

Fatty liver is the accumulation of fat within the liver which causes dysfunction, inflammation, scarring and liver failure. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is an extremely common, but infrequently diagnosed, problem. Even worse, when it is diagnosed, it is either just mentioned in passing or you are told that there is nothing to do for it….just cross your fingers and hope that there is a transplant available for you if your liver fails. Fortunately, if you physician is knowledgeable and paying attention, this potentially fatal process can be easily detected and rapidly reversed. With 25% of American children and over 40% of American adults having fatty liver, this is a problem that should not be ignored.
